Sharon Reisdorf is the founder and owner of Communicare Speech Therapy Services. She earned her Master of Science degree from Minot State University in 1991 and established Communicare in 1993, relocating the practice to Kelowna in 1998.

Sharon has extensive experience supporting both adults and children with communication and swallowing disorders. Her primary clinical interests include working with individuals affected by stroke, acquired brain injury, progressive neurological conditions, and cognitive-communication disorders. Sharon creates an inclusive, collaborative therapy environment where individuals and families feel supported, respected, and empowered. Known for her practical and creative approach, she values therapy that is individualized, flexible, and grounded in real-life success.

In addition to private practice, Sharon serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor with University of British Columbia through her work at Kelowna General Hospital, supervising graduate student Speech-Language Pathologists. She is currently developing an observational scale for those with Fluent Receptive Aphasia (Wernicke’s Aphasia) which will have implications for meaningful and functional patient outcomes.

Outside of work, Sharon enjoys urban hiking around Kelowna, spending time with her canine buddy Mowgli, and attempting to keep up with her monthly book club. She and her husband are the proud parents of three grown daughters.
